Glass Pen is also called glass dip pen. They were developed in Murano, Italy, in the 18th century. Glass dip pens are hand blown and designed with a twisted glass tip that holds ink when dipped into an ink bottle. Unlike metal nibs, glass pens don’t rust, which makes them durable. They are very fragile, so you must store them wisely. You can use glass pens for faux calligraphy or monoline lettering.
Supplies used-
I am using Herbin ink and mixed multimedia paper. You could use watercolour paper if you don’t have multimedia paper. There are two types of nibs in glass pens, a wave nib and a straight nib. I would recommend you should use straight nibs as the inflow is better.
Dip your pen in ink-
When dipping your glass pen in ink, submerge it partially. Next, glide the tip of the glass pen against the ink bottle’s rim to avoid any blots. With one dip, you can usually write sentences without having to dip again. I recommend avoiding using metallic inks or inks such as Ziller with your glass pens, as they are harder to clean and could cause irregular ink flow.
