Getting to know Inpreet Kaur of Lettering Buff-

How did you start your calligraphy journey?
Calligraphy happened by chance. My journey started in 2017 , via the internet , I came across some amazing art accounts such as thefilmyowl and artbyapu, they were my biggest inspiration. Eventually, I started learning from YouTube and internet. I am entirely self-taught.

What is your source of inspiration?

I am inspired by art everywhere, nature, colours and Instagram


What do you feel was your biggest struggle?

I faced a lot of difficulties in sourcing supplies and in application of certain tools.

Who were the people who encouraged you throughout your calligraphic journey?


I faced a lot of difficulties in sourcing supplies and in application of certain tools.

What was the inspiration behind the name Lettering Buff?

I fell in love with calligraphy and lettering, since the day I started. Later, I got the idea to change my username from Inpreet Kaur to LetteringBuff. Buff means adore. I found Lettering Buff much more fitting and better.

What are your favorite tools?

My favorite supplies are Tombow Fudenosoke, oblique holder, watercolour paper and watercolours.

Do you feel you have a signature style?

I feel I have developed my own signature style and aesthetic after a lot of practice and effort into calligraphy. I have often been lauded by many for my style.

Do you enjoy working on different mediums besides paper?

I love experimenting on different surfaces and trying new tools. I like doing wall murals, canvases and leather. I have also recently learnt engraving and done a few project of the same.
